Alphonse Mucha: The Master of Art Nouveau Details

Reviews

If you appreciate the Art Nouveau era this 300-page book is the one to get. The master of the Art Nouveau movement is Alphonse Mucha and this book was written by his son Jiri ... Very well illustrated with examples of nearly all of Mucha's works. The artwork is in color and black and white with numerous photos of Mucha. There are also working illustrations showing his creative process. The color reproduction shows the muted tones of his artwork very well. He is known for his artistic and realistic representation of the female form. Great history of Mucha's rise to fame to become the premier artist of his time. He was "the" artist in high demand by the rich and famous in both Europe and the United States and was the artist that famed opera singer Sarah Berhardt wanted to do her publicity work. Mucha designed interiors and jewelry and was consulted on a number of projects throughout the world and for both book and magazine work among other projects. I purchased this book as an "acceptable" book because I intend to use it as a reference book and was not as concerned with the condition of the book as I was with the information it contained. It is approximately 10 by 14 inches to showcase the generous number of artworks inside. The index and list of illustrations is another plus.
